The Committee for Employment & Social Security has appointed Wendy McHugh as non-voting member.
Mrs McHugh (pictured) is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development and an experienced Human Resources (HR) professional with 18 years of experience dealing with all aspects of HR and a range of employee relations matters across both the private and public sectors. Mrs McHugh is very familiar with the Prevention of Discrimination (Guernsey) Ordinance, 2022 and Secondary Pensions legislation, having advised employers on their requirements in these respects.
Deputy Tina Bury, President of the Committee for Employment & Social Security, said: “Wendy’s vast HR and employment relations experience will be invaluable to the Committee this term as we look to develop a variety of policies in this area. In appointing her, we were keen to harness her real-life expertise and insight of how policies of this nature impact both employees and employers. Wendy’s passion for working with people – especially those who have experienced
challenges accessing work – came through strongly in her interview and this naturally complements our wider mandate. We look forward to welcoming Wendy to the Committee and predict that she will make a valuable contribution to our discussions and decision making.”
Wendy McHugh, non-voting member for the Committee for Employment & Social Security, said: “I am delighted to have been appointed to this role. I am keen to learn and become involved with the Committee’s broad mandate. I am hopeful that my experience in HR and previously in teaching will enable me to provide support and exploration on the Committee’s decision-making and policy development going forward”
