Guernsey Post has confirmed that the dedicated mail plane used to export mail to the UK each weekday will be withdrawn in July 2026.
The final outbound flight is scheduled for Friday 3rd July. From this date, all standard mail will be transported to the UK via the established and reliable sea freight network.
Guernsey Post have explained that rising supply chain costs mean it is no longer cost-effective to operate a dedicated export aircraft each weekday. Moving standard mail to sea provides a practical and commercially responsible way to maintain a reliable service for all customers.
Recognising the importance of maintaining a next-day service for urgent items, they are working to secure a daily service using commercial partners for scheduled flights. Customers should allow an additional 24 hours for their items to connect with UK deliveries.
Chief Executive Steve Sheridan (pictured) said: “Our priority is to provide a reliable, well-managed and financially sustainable postal service for the island. Transitioning standard mail to sea allows for that whilst also protecting essential services for those who depend on them.”
