With under two weeks to go before the draw, the first prize in this year’s Christmas Lottery has reached £358,000
Jon Taylor, Presiding Officer for the Channel Islands Lottery Draw said: “Sales are beginning to pick up as we close in on draw day Thursday 18th December. We are currently on a par with last year so confident first prize will get close to the £450k+ mark.
With syndicate winners claiming the top prize in recent years, syndicate sales have seen an increase on last year. “We now have a dedicated ordering and delivery system online at cilottery.org to allow those organisations, clubs and friends or family groups to purchases blocks of tickets” said Paul Bates, Head of Sales for distribution agents Fox Trading.
Mr Taylor said: “This year we’re partnering with Channel 103 in Jersey and Island FM in Guernsey to broadcast the winning ticket numbers. There is a dedicated Lottery show which will be on air from 6pm on Thursday 18th live from St Helier Town Hall where Jersey beneficiary charities will be invited to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Channel Islands Lottery.
“The independent radio stations have shown an enthusiasm for the CI Lottery draw and I hope by providing the public with more transparency around the draw procedure we can demonstrate it is a fair process. This year we will once again have an upstanding member of the public to provide oversight and observe that the draw is run appropriately. I would like to thank Anna Terry from the Jersey Community Foundation and Marcus Liddard from the Association of Jersey Charities for agreeing to act as the eyes and ears of the Channel Island public.”
