Hopes are high that Guernsey Ports’ Travel Showcase will become an annual event, as the inaugural show welcomed more than 500 guests and 25 exhibitors from across the travel industry.
The Travel Showcase was held at Guernsey Airport on Sunday 11 January, offering a convenient one-stop event sparking holiday inspiration for the year ahead. And the six-hour event was well-supported by the public, with around 550 guests. Attendees were able to advantage of event-only promotions and speak directly to ferry operators, airlines, travel agencies and other travel-related business. Multiple businesses ran competitions, with Aurigny and Brittany Ferries both running prize draws for free return trips off the island.
A complimentary buffet was provided by Bailiwick Bar & Kitchen, Guernsey Airport’s on-site café provider, and parking at the airport was free on the day.
Exhibitors hailed the event as a great success. Many exhibitors, such as FlyDirect Holidays, said they had taken bookings on the day: “We were delighted by the number of people who stopped by to ask questions, book their 2026 holiday, or simply say hello to our team,” said Rebecca Larsson, Sales & Marketing Manager for FlyDirect.
“The Travel Showcase provided a great opportunity for us to meet some of our past and future FlyDirect clients in person, as we enter our fifth year of providing sunshine holidays direct from Guernsey.”
Mark Roffey, Managing Director of Isle of Sark Shipping, said: “The Guernsey Travel Showcase was a fantastic event, with strong interest at the stand and very positive feedback on both Sark and Sark Shipping. It was a great opportunity to engage directly with people, share what makes Sark special, and showcase the service we provide. We would be delighted to see it become a regular fixture in the future.”
Emma Le Sauvage from Uniworld River Cruises said the event was a valuable opportunity to increase awareness.
“Many people don’t realise that Uniworld’s reservation team is based in Guernsey, so it was wonderful to speak in depth about what we do,” she said.
“We thoroughly enjoyed being part of the event and would love to be involved again in the future. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our luxury floating boutique hotels, which we call river ships, and to talk about the incredible destinations we offer our guests. It was also clear that Guernsey residents have a real passion for travel.”
David Buddery, lead organiser for Guernsey Ports, said the intention is to make the Travel Showcase an annual event.
“This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase everything that the Guernsey travel community has to offer. We are delighted with the amount of engagement we saw on the day and truly hope that everybody who attended discovered something new – information and inspiration for their next adventure.
“We are already reaching out to exhibitors for feedback, as we map out plans to host a second Travel Showcase early next year.”
