Help Build a Best-in-Class Financial Crime Framework

We are looking for an experienced KYC & AML Policy and Procedures Consultant on a contract basis and play a key role in strengthening our clients financial crime compliance framework.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on compliance professional with experience in UK lending or regulated financial services to design and implement robust KYC, AML and financial crime policies and procedures. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to develop a practical, risk-based framework that supports regulatory compliance while enabling the business to grow.

If you have a strong understanding of Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) expectations and a track record of delivering policy and procedural frameworks within a lender, bank or fintech, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll take ownership of reviewing, developing and implementing our KYC and AML framework, including:

  • Reviewing our existing financial crime controls and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Drafting and implementing KYC, AML and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) policies and procedures.
  • Developing Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) processes for higher-risk customers.
  • Designing practical operational procedures and guidance for customer onboarding and ongoing monitoring.
  • Creating customer risk assessment methodologies and a risk-based approach to compliance.
  • Reviewing sanctions, politically exposed persons (PEP) and adverse media screening processes.
  • Developing governance, escalation and reporting procedures.
  • Producing clear, high-quality documentation suitable for internal governance, audit and regulatory review.
  • Working collaboratively with Compliance, Risk, Operations and senior leadership to embed the new framework.
  • Supporting implementation and knowledge transfer across the business where required.

About You

You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience designing and implementing KYC and AML frameworks within a UK regulated financial services business.
  • Experience working within a lender, bank, fintech or other regulated credit provider.
  • Strong knowledge of UK AML legislation, including the Money Laundering Regulations, the Proceeds of Crime Act and FCA expectations.
  • Demonstrable experience writing policies, procedures and operational documentation.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach with excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to work independently and deliver high-quality outcomes within agreed timescales.

It Would Be Great If You Also Have

  • Previous experience supporting an FCA-regulated firm or firms preparing for FCA authorisation or regulatory review.
  • Professional qualifications such as ICA, ACAMS or equivalent.
  • Experience implementing financial crime systems or customer onboarding platforms.

What You’ll Deliver

By the end of the engagement, you’ll have produced a comprehensive suite of documentation, including:

  • KYC and AML policies.
  • Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) procedures.
  • Customer risk assessment methodology.
  • Governance and escalation processes.
  • Ongoing monitoring and periodic review procedures.
  • Operational guidance for frontline teams.
  • Practical recommendations to embed a sustainable financial crime framework.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact by helping shape the compliance framework of a growing lending business. You’ll have the autonomy to apply your expertise, work directly with decision-makers and leave behind a robust, practical framework that supports both regulatory compliance and commercial success.

If you’re an experienced financial crime professional who enjoys building frameworks from the ground up and wants to make a tangible difference, we’d love to hear from you.
