Guernsey charity Grow will have the rare opportunity to highlight its achievements on the national stage when it appears at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show later this month.

It has been invited to join Burncoose Nurseries on their exhibit ‘Over the Garden Hedge’ which is sponsored by Guernsey-based Hand Picked Hotels.

Marking a proud moment for the charity, Grow will be represented in London by two Crew members , Alex Adamson and Alex Houchard, accompanied by Horticulture Manager Stuart Smale and Board member Marguerite Talmage, who will all help with the final build of the garden and attend Press Day.

The charity has also made a creative contribution to the exhibit, with its Workshop team designing and building two large-scale wooden bug “hotels” that will feature within the Burncoose display.

Julia Hands, Handpicked Hotels Chairman and joint patron of Grow said, ‘My husband Guy, and I are delighted that Grow’s been given this opportunity to be part of such a major event, showcasing their talents on an international stage and at the same time gaining experience that will inspire confidence and encourage future ambitions’.

Charles Williams of Cornwall-based Burncoose Nurseries added: ‘We are pleased to be working with Grow Ltd on this year’s Chelsea exhibit. The Crew’s craftsmanship and creativity have brought a distinctive and meaningful element to the garden, and we’re excited to share that with visitors at Chelsea.’

The garden’s theme, ‘Over the Garden Hedge’, reflects collaboration across the water between Guernsey and the Cornish mainland, with Grow’s involvement highlighting the strength of that connection.

For those involved, the opportunity to contribute to Chelsea – widely regarded as the highlight of the horticultural calendar – represents a significant and memorable experience, while also placing a Guernsey charity firmly on the map at one of horticulture’s most celebrated events.

Taking part will give Grow Crew and staff valuable hands-on experience of professional garden build, while contributing bespoke elements to the Burncoose Nurseries exhibit. The event will also build confidence, skills and motivation, with knowledge brought back to benefit the wider Grow community.
