Rothschild & Co in Guernsey is celebrating the success of their team, the Guernsey Conquerors, winning €10,000 for their chosen charity, Guernsey Motor Neurone, in the company’s global in-house fitness challenge.

Guernsey Motor Neurone (GMN) provides vital support to islanders and families affected by motor neurone disease.

Rothschild & Co Foundation’s challenge, The Human Race, invited colleagues across the Rothschild & Co Group globally to form teams, get active and log their efforts, turning everyday movement and sporting activities into points on a leaderboard, with prize donations awarded to the top-performing teams for charities of their choice.

The three-week challenge was designed to encourage activity, teamwork and giving back. It marked the Foundation’s fifth anniversary, celebrating five years of colleague engagement and impact across the group. Teams earned points through a wide range of sporting activities, from walking and running to yoga, cycling and martial arts, with donations awarded to the highest-scoring teams for the non-profit organisations closest to their hearts.

There was a strong level of engagement from the wider Guernsey office, with six teams of five taking part from an office of almost 60 – half of all staff on island.

The Guernsey Conquerors – Henry Henke, Rachel Bailey, Amar Batth, Emma Cabrelli and Charlie Locke – showed impressive commitment, consistency and team spirit throughout the challenge, competing against colleagues from across Rothschild & Co globally. Their third-place finish secured a €10,000 donation for local charity, Guernsey Motor Neurone.

Henry Henke, Guernsey Conquerors Captain, said “This was a true team effort. We supported and encouraged each other every step of the way, and keeping our chosen charity, Guernsey Motor Neurone, at the heart of what we were doing helped drive us on. We’re delighted to have achieved such a strong result and to be able to make a meaningful donation to a cause that is so important to us.”

Jo Luff, who is married to Rothschild & Co Guernsey colleague Richard, is living with MND and both the team and the office are thrilled to have enabled such an important donation which will make a difference to both Jo and the MND Community.

Guernsey Motor Neurone’s Susie Hunt said: “MND is a very cruel disease. This incredible donation will make a huge difference to what our charity is able to do to make life a little more comfortable for those living with it. Congratulations and heartfelt thanks to the Guernsey Conquerors Team – you are all angels.”
