The latest edition of the Chambers and Partners High Net Worth guide, has awarded Carey Olsen with more ranked individuals than any other offshore law firm.
In addition to three Band 1 rankings for its trusts and private wealth practices in Bermuda, Guernsey and Jersey, Carey Olsen has 13 members of its global trusts and private wealth practice recognised individually, including eight from the Channel Islands.
Carey Olsen’s Guernsey office is ‘at the top of their game’, according to one source, while another notes the trusts and private wealth team’s ‘good breadth of knowledge to handle the toughest situations’.
The Jersey team is noted for its ‘remarkable ability – from partner to senior associates – to quickly analyse a complex situation and give prudent, concise advice’.
Among those individually recognised, partner Russell Clark, managing partner and head of the trusts and private wealth group in Guernsey, is ranked as a Band 1 practitioner and described as ‘exceptional’, with the source also adding that it ‘is rare to find such a balance between intellect, wisdom and pragmatism, while also being approachable and responsive’.
Guernsey colleagues joining him in the rankings include partner Natasha Kapp (Band 2) who is described as ‘a problem solver’ and someone who provides ‘clear, concise and practical advice’, while Konrad Friedlaender (Band 2) is ‘exceptional technically’ and ‘who you would call when things go wrong’. Counsel Patricia Montgomery (Band 3) is praised as ‘a top-quality lawyer who focuses on detail’.
Jersey’s head of the trust and private wealth practice, Siobhan Riley (pictured), is ranked in Band 2 and considered ‘phenomenal to work with’ as well as having an ‘incredible ability to develop comprehensive advice on complex legal matters’.
Fellow partners Alexa Saunders (Band 2), Keith Dixon and Andreas Kistler (both Band 3) are also ranked. Alexa is ‘academic but also very practical, and has a very calm way about her’, according to one industry source, while Keith’s ‘enthusiasm in seeking solutions and in helping trustees to best serve their clients is to be applauded’. Andreas is noted as a ‘highly experienced individual’ and as someone ‘with an air that invites even mundane questions to be considered seriously and answered diplomatically’.
