This year’s Headway Jacksons 10k run raised funds for islanders affected by brain injuries, which will allow more people to take part in neuro-physiotherapist led exercise classes.

One  hundred and thirty runners signed up for the 10k road race on Sunday 26th June and helped raise £4,000 for the charity. It’s the fourth time the motor dealers have sponsored this popular race on the local sporting calendar.

Thanks to their support, there were trophies and cash prizes up for grabs for the fastest man, woman and teams, and all those taking part in the 10k race received a performance tee-shirt and bespoke medal, with a medal for all children taking part in the 3k Kids fun run.

First home for the men was former Commonwealth Games athlete Elliott Dorey in a very impressive time of 34 minutes and 4 seconds. The first lady, Kim Garrett wasn’t far behind in great time of 40 minutes 5 seconds.

Commenting on the event, Andrew Searle, General Manager at Jacksons said: “We were delighted to be sponsoring the Headway 10k again this year, it’s a fantastic race out west and a great way to support this fantastic local charity which provides essential services including a range of physical and cognitive rehabilitation programmes for islanders living with brain injuries. Our team are so pleased that this race will be helping Headway members get active!”

The charity has over 150 survivors of brain injury registered with them as members and up to 70 who access their services on a weekly basis.

Bryce Alford, Fundraising and Events Manager at Headway Jersey said: “We are really grateful to Jacksons for their continued support and to all those who signed up to race on 26th June.  It was great to see so many running it for the first time and of course those who have taken part each year.

“We look forward to seeing all the runners back again in 2023 helping Headway to raise funds so we can continue to provide essential support, information and services to people in Jersey who are affected by brain injury.”
