PwC Channel Islands has announced the admission of two new Partners within its Audit team as part of its latest pan-island promotions.

Guernsey-based Erick Dengura and Jersey-based Lelani Wright are both long-standing members of the PwC Channel Islands firm and have contributed  significantly to its continued growth and success over many years.

Having originally studied at Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, Lelani joined PwC in South Africa in 2011 before relocating to PwC’s Jersey office in 2013. With a portfolio of global clients across a variety of sectors, Lelani has a breadth of financial services industry experience, including fiduciary and wealth management.

Erick firstly studied at the University of Zimbabwe and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2012, before relocating to join PwC in Guernsey in 2013. He has significant experience in supporting financial services’ clients across banking, insurance and the asset and wealth management spectrum.

A total of 44 staff members have been promoted across the islands as part of the local firm’s latest round of promotions, spanning a range of levels and multiple disciplines. The promotions also include four new Directors, namely Jersey-based Assurance Director Gemma Sutton, promoted in January, Tax Director Aoife Furey who relocated to Jersey from PwC in Dubai in May, and Jersey-based Assurance Director Sarah Hassell, who returned from two years at PwC in Singapore at the start of the new year.

Meanwhile in Guernsey, Ben Backhouse has been promoted to a global Director role within the PwC Network, where his focus is to drive global adoption of audit technology.

The firm also recently welcomed Dr Christie Viljoen to its Jersey office as Channel Islands’ Lead Economist, where he advises clients on the business implications of economic data and geopolitical trends, spearheads the economic and social impact assessment practice, and contributes research and analysis to the thought leadership programme, having previously spent eight years in a similar role at PwC South Africa.

A further 15 newly promoted Senior Managers and 22 Managers complete this latest series of promotions, with every single individual being recognised for their depth of skills, experience and dedication to ensuring PwC continues to meet client needs and expectations.

Commenting on the exciting news, PwC CI Senior Partner, Nick Vermeulen, said: “Our focus continues to be on ensuring our clients can outthink, outpace and outperform in their respective industries, and bringing together technology and human-led expertise effectively is key in enabling us to deliver on that. Our latest round of promotions, recognising the contribution and expertise of 44 colleagues across the firm, reflects that focus.

“In particular, I’m really excited about the part both Lelani and Erick will play in leading and shaping PwC’s strategic direction in the Channel Islands. Both newly admitted Partners bring unique skills, experience and innovative ideas to the partnership team. I’m confident that their respective passions, skills and abilities will strengthen not only our partnership culture but also our investment in the future success of our Channel Islands practice.”
