Carey Olsen counsel Andrew Tually and senior associate Stevie Balmer have been admitted as Advocates of the Royal Court of Guernsey.

Both were sworn in on 4 September, having successfully completed the Guernsey Bar Exams and the Certificat d’Etudes Juridiques Françaises et Normande at the University of Caen.

As Guernsey Advocates, Andrew and Stevie now have rights of audience in the Royal Court and the Guernsey Court of Appeal.

After qualifying as a Solicitor in South Australia, Andrew Tually joined Carey Olsen in 2007 and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales in 2009. Andrew has significant experience in the structuring, formation and regulation of Guernsey open and closed-ended collective investment schemes investing in private equity, venture capital, real estate, infrastructure and hedge funds.

Stevie Balmer joined Carey Olsen in 2018 after qualifying as a Solicitor and Notary Public in Scotland in 2016, having previously spent two years at the Judicial Institute for Scotland. He practices in the Dispute Resolution and Litigation Group, specialising in commercial litigation, trusts disputes and insolvency matters. Stevie advises on a wide-range of high-value commercial cases, in addition to multi-jurisdictional litigation for domestic and international clients.

Carey Olsen Guernsey managing partner Tom Carey said: “Congratulations to Andrew and Stevie on being admitted as Advocates of the Royal Court of Guernsey. This well-earned achievement is the result of consistent hard work and study over an extended period, and a reflection of the high calibre talent we have at the firm.

“Both Andrew and Stevie are valuable members of our team in Guernsey and dedicated to delivering high levels of client service for Carey Olsen. I have every confidence in their future success and look forward to watching them continue to develop their careers beyond this milestone achievement.”
