Ogier’s Private Wealth teams in Guernsey and Jersey have been ranked as ‘top-tier’ in the new Chambers HNW Guide, with the firm receiving a number of individual recognitions.
The Jersey team is described in client feedback in the Guide as ‘a big heavy-hitter in the private client world’ and is praised for its ‘huge depth and breadth.’
In particular Global Head of Private Wealth James Campbell is described as ‘a highly respected lawyer here in Jersey with a good understanding of the Middle East”, while a local professional describes him as: “very good to deal with. He thinks commercially, he is personable and he is very knowledgeable.’
Partner Josephine Howe advises high net worth individuals, family offices and institutional clients on Jersey trust law, including the creation and management of trusts and private trust companies. A peer describes her as a ‘really good and capable trusts practitioner.’
Katherine Neal is noted for her handling of trust and foundation matters. A source says Neal is ‘very driven, very friendly and very passionate about what she does. She fully invests herself in client matters.’
Partner Sally Edwards, who leads Ogier’s Private Wealth team in Jersey and has received a ‘Band 1’ ranking, is described as ‘technically brilliant,’ and ‘very pragmatic, has a good eye for attention to detail.’
Meanwhile, in Guernsey the ranking follows a year of significant growth for the team, including the arrival of partners Matt Guthrie and Catherine Moore. Described as ‘excellent value’ and ‘interested in long-term relationships’ by clients, the Guernsey team’s “long history and really solid reputation” have led them to achieve this market-leading status.
Client feedback describes partner and team lead Matt Guthrie as ‘the brightest and most commercially astute lawyer on the island,’ and partner Catherine Moore has been identified in the ‘up and coming’ category. Partner Gavin Ferguson has retained his ‘Band 1’ ranking, described as a ‘top expert in his field’, while associate to watch Chris Hards has been described by a market insider as ‘exceptional; very prompt and very precise.’
