Welcome to our series, ‘Meet the Team’, where we meet the people behind the business in the Channel Islands.

Today, we’re speaking with Bronte Robson, Relationship Manager for Corporate Banking Butterfield in Jersey, to learn more about her role and what inspires her.

Tell us about your background and journey to your current role

I graduated from Jersey International Business School with a first-class degree in International Financial Services. During my studies, I also held an internship at UBS Jersey, which gave me a taste of life in the banking world. My first full-time role was as a Client Services Manager at Standard Chartered Bank before I joined Butterfield nearly four years ago as an Assistant Relationship Manager. I was promoted to Relationship Manager at the end of 2024.

What’s the most interesting thing about your work?

I like that Butterfield is focused on identifying gaps in the local market and finding areas where islanders are being underserviced by other banks. Having launched residential mortgages, savings accounts and more recently credit cards, we want to provide Channel Island clients with the financial solutions they need.

A key part of our offering is also a personalised service, which means we really get to know our clients to understand their individual needs, and our whole team is on-island team.

Bronte Robson

What motivates you to get up and come to work every day?

The people – whether they be my colleagues or the clients we serve. It is so rewarding to be proactive with our clients and deliver tailored solutions, you feel like you are making a contribution to the community.

As we are a team of around 40 here in Jersey, your voice really matters in the company and you have exposure to all levels of management. This creates so many opportunities. Most recently, for example, I was able to take the lead in Jersey for our newly launched local product – the Business Saver, our competitive, easy access, savings account which can help local businesses thrive.

What’s the most interesting thing you’re working on right now?

The aforementioned new Business Saver. The product is available to Jersey registered limited companies, charities and non-profit organisations that are locally owned and managed with a minimum deposit of £25,000.

Business owners can set up standing orders and direct debits and manage their accounts via online banking. They can also link their business savings account to a corporate credit card to manage expenditure.

We have also launched our corporate credit card portal where a nominated administrator can monitor and amend credit limits via an easy-to-use app. Each statement shows what each cardholder has spent, making it easier for business owners to monitor spending in real time.

We’ve seen good interest in both products which is really exciting.

What do the next few years look like for your business and your role?

We are committed to our local customers and continue to look at additional products we can introduce to the market as we expand our offering. Right now, of course, our focus is on building upon the positive feedback we have had from local business owners who are now in the process of opening Business Saver accounts and applying for corporate credit cards.

What is the best thing about working at Butterfield?

Definitely Butterfield’s culture. I love how much we support local community initiatives, which gives employees opportunities to take part while also supporting these events.

I am part of the employee engagement committee which focuses on boosting staff morale. They often sprinkle in ‘random acts of kindness’ throughout the year, whether that is a box of chocolates on people’s desks or a voucher for a coffee at a local coffee shop. It really goes a long way to fostering that caring, inclusive culture at the bank.

What do you do with your free time?

When I am not working you will usually find me buried in a book! I also love practising yoga and going boating.

Celebrating 50 years in the Channel Islands, Butterfield in Jersey delivers financial solutions with a personal touch. Rooted in our small island heritage, we put relationships at the centre of everything we do. Our mission is to protect and grow your wealth. To find out more, contact us on [email protected]
