During 2020 staff at The International Stock Exchange (TISE) raised a record amount of £12,952.24 for Les Bourgs Hospice through a variety of fundraising initiatives.
Last year, staff participated in activities such as a cheese and wine evening, cake sale, Helvetia Challenge, meat draw, TISE festival, Christmas draw and the hugely successful 30/30 challenge including the TISE Everest Madness challenge.
Seven members of staff committed to the 30/30 challenge, which requires completing an hour of cycling each day for 30 days. Whilst for most entrants this would be testing enough, the TISE team came up with an additional feat appropriately called the TISE Everest Madness Challenge.
Held on the penultimate morning of the 30/30 event, the initial target was to cycle and ascend L’Eree hill 117 times (the equivalent height of Mount Everest) but by noon 44 riders of varying abilities had achieved a combined 205 ascents, equating to more than the height of Mount Everest and Mount Kilimanjaro together.
In total, both the 30/30 and TISE Everest Madness challenges raised a staggering £5,126.85 which was then matched by TISE.
Laura Cornelius, Head of HR at TISE, said: “The record amount raised by the staff at TISE is made even more special by the fact it was achieved in such a difficult year given the COVID-19 pandemic. We are delighted to support a charity which provides the highest levels of compassionate and professional care to patients suffering from life-limiting illnesses, as well as their loved ones.”
The funds raised by TISE will be used to help cover operational costs across the whole hospice. Liz Stonebridge, Funding Administrator at Les Bourgs Hospice, said: “We are delighted to receive this support from TISE. The pandemic has made it a lot more difficult to fundraise and so this extra contribution from TISE is hugely welcome. Everyone at Les Bourgs Hospice is incredibly grateful to the staff at TISE for their significant efforts in raising such a fantastic amount”.
