A new YouTube channel promises to bring the razzle dazzle of London’s West End to your home.
Launched by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, The Shows Must Go On! is a channel that streams one of the composer’s much-loved musicals every Friday at 7pm (GMT).
The composer, who is famous for musicals such as Cats, Evita, and Phantom of the Opera, has even promised to stream some of his lesser known shows.
‘Sometime, buried in the schedule later on, the most important one, my disaster musical By Jeeves. I’m very, very fond of it and so will you be,’ he said in a YouTube statement.
The streams are available for 48 hours and are free to watch. However, viewers are encouraged to make donations to charities supporting the arts, including Acting for Others, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Actors Benevolent Fund.
The YouTube channel launched on Friday 4 April with a showing of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, which was followed on 10 April by Jesus Christ Superstar starring Melanie C, Tim Minchin and Chris Moyles. Details on upcoming shows are announced weekly.
