Jersey Arts Centre and Guernsey Arts are calling on Channel Island artists from both Bailiwicks to be part of their island-wide Fox Open Art Competition 2024.

Winning and selected artworks will be exhibited at Jersey Arts Centre and The George Crossan Gallery Guernsey.

The Fox Open Art Competition, sponsored by JJ Fox International Ltd, is now in its 42nd year, and has featured local artists such as Rob Sweeny, Gill Harrison and Michelle Stringer.

The Fox 2023 Winner – Edie Le Blanq with ‘Second Prize in a Beauty Contest’

This year artists can enter online by completing an online application form and submitting photographs of their artwork. A judge will make a selection from the photographs and then choose the winning works in person.

Online forms can be found here. Guernsey Arts will also be hosting a drop in on 4th September from 1pm – 5pm at the George Crossan Gallery for anyone who would like assistance with their entry form.

This year’s prizes total £2,000 and will be awarded to Channel Island-based artists who, in the opinion of the judge, have produced the most original work of art. This year’s prizes are £1,000 for the overall winner, £500 for the winner of the Jock Russell Award for 12 to 18 year olds and prizes of £100 for 5 highly  commended artists. The competition is open to artists who are resident in the Bailiwick of Jersey, Bailiwick of Guernsey and who are aged 12 and over.

Entrants may submit up to two works and it costs just £5. If you’re a student, then you only have to pay £1 to enter your piece(s)!

This year’s Judge is Mick Armson. He will be exhibiting his own work in the Berni Gallery in Jersey in the run up to the competition exhibition.
