A new Jersey campaign aims to inspire residents to explore and rediscover the attractions on their doorstep.
Launched by Visit Jersey and the Jersey Hospitality Association, the Jersey Big Weekend will offer islanders the chance to apply for free tickets and vouchers for local attractions, activities, hotels, restaurants and retail experiences. The tickets will then be distributed on a limited lottery basis.
‘We’re big supporters of any initiative that helps the public fall back in love with hospitality,’ said Jersey Hospitality Association CEO Simon Soar.
‘We’ve had some really good feedback from our members about the campaign and we’re all hoping it will give residents the chance to take a minute to appreciate the fantastic attractions, restaurants and hotels available to them on the island.’
The campaign, which was originally founded by Visit Kent, wants to create greater awareness of Jersey’s attractions and experiences among local residents, enabling them to become better informed tourism ambassadors for visiting friends and family.
The Big Weekend, which will take place from 28-29 March 2020, is also designed to give tourism businesses the opportunity to reach new audiences, as well as the chance to trial soft opening before the season begins.
How to get involved
Visit Jersey is asking the island’s tourism businesses to donate free tickets to celebrate all it has to offer.
‘To make the weekend as much a success as possible we need your support,’ said Visit Jersey.
‘The Big Weekend is open to all tourism, hospitality and retail businesses in Jersey to participate and we hope you can join us as we celebrate all that is great about the island on one special weekend in March.’
Attractions, activity providers, hotels, restaurants, hospitality businesses and retailers are being asked to register here before Friday 17 January to take part.
