The de Putron Challenge returns this year with the theme of ‘Legacies That Last’, ready to inspire the next generation of the Channel Islands’ great thinkers.

The de Putron Challenge, the biggest school quiz in the Channel Islands, invites Year Six and Year Eight pupils from Guernsey, Alderney and Jersey schools to go head-to-head and put their knowledge and skills to the ultimate test. This year the students will be quizzed on ‘Legacies That Last’, focusing on the trailblazing and iconic figures and phenomena that have influenced our world throughout history.

The theme will be reflected in each quiz round. The Science and Geography round will explore maps, myths & molecules, the Current Affairs round will focus on the legacy of today, while in the History round, the students will be travelling through various time periods to answer questions on the patterns of the past.

Students will also participate in enduring equations (Maths), timeless masterpieces (Music and Art) and pages through the ages (Literature) rounds.

John Fernandez, political reporter for BBC Guernsey, will return as quizmaster in Guernsey and Jenny Mullin, TV news and radio presenter for BBC Jersey, will be making her debut as a de Putron Challenge quizmaster for the Jersey challenge.

Hayley de Putron, a Trustee of the Ana Leaf Foundation and Founder of the de Putron Challenge, said: “We are so excited to host the de Putron Challenge again for another year. It is wonderful to see the brightest young minds from the islands’ schools coming together to challenge themselves and enjoy healthy competition. The challenge is designed for children to not only have fun, but also for them to learn about the values that come with working as a team. With teamwork comes respect, leadership and collaboration. As young people, this challenge is a chance for them to grow and apply themselves in an exciting, competitive environment.

“Our aim for the challenge is to give each student the platform to utilise their knowledge. With this year’s theme, we hope that the studying of enduring legacies will help to inspire and shape the legends of tomorrow.”
