Specsavers support office at La Villiaze has undergone a multi-million pound upgrade, signalling the group’s long-term commitment to the island and the continued growth of its business.
It comes as Specsavers, which is the largest private employer in the island employing more than 535 people in Guernsey, recently published its first Community Report .
The report, which focuses on the activities of the group and its teams soley in Guernsey, was launched on Thursday 24 May when the support office opened its doors to Guernsey’s Lieutenant-Governor His Excellency Vice Admiral Sir Ian Corder, States deputies and key business heads.
Specsavers office at La Villiaze is one of several support offices around the world and house’s the group’s award-winning creative agency, as well as wholesale and distrubition, marketing, IT, finance, HR, legal, retail and professional services. Work began in April 2017 to transform the 120,000 square feet premises into a modern, open plan environment, with state-of-the-art office furniture, ergonomic seating and a new café with al fresco dining area.
Specsavers co-founder Doug Perkins, says: “This extensive refurbishment demonstrates our ongoing commitment to Guernsey as a vital hub for our business operations. The island has been integral to our success for the past 34 years and this significant investment reflects the confidence we have in our business and our people.
“We are delighted with our new look – the ergonomic design gives us a modern, flexible space that improves the working environment for everybody here. It is an important development for employee wellbeing and we want to continue to invest in our workplaces to help retain and attract the very best talent.”
The new look premises were showcased to guests when the Specsavers Community Report was launched. The report brings to life the contribution Specsavers and its employees at La Villiaze made to the island community during 2017. It will also be distrubted across the island over the next few weeks.
Specsavers co-founder Dame Mary Perkins says: “During the past 12 months alone, we have donated half a million pounds to various charities and good causes specifically in Guernsey, all testament to our team’s good will and hard work.”
Specsavers will be opening its doors again next month when it hosts a Careers Fair on 26 June to showcase the diverse and unique opportunities available at La Villiaze across a wide range of business functions.
