Signtech have been crowned winners of the month-long Snap vs Signtech Showdown, sealing the result in a pool-and-darts finale at Planet Pool, where Dementia Jersey’s Claudine Snape presented the trophy.
The community series, created to raise funds and awareness for Dementia Jersey, has so far raised £700, with organisers urging the public to help reach the £1,000 target via the campaign’s JustGiving page.
Designed to bring the charity’s Boost Your Brain guidance to life, Love your heart (physical activity), Stay sharp (mental challenge) and Keep connected (social engagement), the Showdown featured accessible, good-spirited fixtures across the island. Events and venues included: Padel Tennis at Island Padel Club; Racketball at St John’s Recreation Centre; Chess; Softball at Le Rocquier with the Jersey Softball Association; Pétanque at Jersey Pétanque Club; Netball at Oakfield with Jersey Netball; and the pool and darts finale at Planet Pool, which also hosted the celebration and prize-giving.
Organisers thanked the hosts and partners for their support throughout the series, and expressed gratitude to everyone who has donated so far.
“This was about showing up for our community,” said Tom Le Sueur, CEO at Snap. “Turning a friendly rivalry into funds and awareness for Dementia Jersey brought people together and highlighted simple habits: move more, challenge your mind, and stay connected. That can make a real difference.”
“We’re proud of the effort from both teams to help raise awareness and funds for a great cause,” said Tim de Gruchy, Managing Director at Signtech. “The Showdown created a positive buzz around the island while supporting a charity that helps so many families. A huge thank-you to the venues, volunteers and everyone who donated.”
Claudine Snape of Dementia Jersey praised the initiative as she awarded the trophy to Signtech, noting the value of community-led events that promote brain-healthy lifestyles and help fund vital local services for people living with dementia and their families.
Members of the public are encouraged to keep the momentum going and donate here to help hit the £1,000 goal.
