Samphire restaurant serves up support to Les Amis

Samphire Restaurant is lending its support to the Les Amis charity, committing time and providing resources when it is needed the most. Jersey’s casual fine dining establishment will be working alongside Les Amis to create fundraising campaigns and providing special offers in conjunction with the restaurant as it encourages more businesses to dig deep for charities at this difficult time.

Samphire has committed to a long-term partnership with the island’s largest charitable organisation, offering its space for future events and working with them to ease the burden that has resulted from Covid-19. Les Amis has been forced to cancel all of its regular fundraising events for the rest of the year, with many residents still in isolation.

Chula Whelan, CEO at Samphire, said: “Whilst almost every industry has been impacted by the effects of the recent pandemic, we recognise that our island’s charities will have been hit the hardest. We believe it’s so important to support charities and to give back whatever we possibly can at this time to ensure that they can continue to operate. Les Amis plays a vital role within our community and we wanted to do whatever we could to help them out.

“Jersey has a very giving culture and our many charities are part of what makes this a great place to live. If we all play our small part in helping, then we can make a huge difference to the lives of those less fortunate.”

Jason Loveless, Head of Support Services at Les Amis said: “Support does not always need to come in the form of financial assistance. At the moment we need to be creative about how to keep awareness of our charity and the work we do high, which makes the expertise and resources of our corporate partners like Samphire invaluable to us.  We continue to be incredibly busy as we look to adapt to current guidelines and regulations and continue our recycling business and are extremely grateful to Samphire for reaching out to give us this support.”

The charity continues to grow its corporate recycling enterprise, collecting waste cooking oil from over 150 businesses including Samphire Restaurant. The venture allows Les Amis to offer its residents meaningful employment whilst supporting the island’s green agenda.
