Praxis Care has celebrated the achievements of people with learning disabilities and autism at its first Celebrating Success Awards to be held in the Isle of Man.
The awards, which were launched by the organisation in 2012 across its other service regions, made their Isle of Man debut this year, with 22 people nominated in recognition of their personal achievements over the past 12 months. Nominations were submitted by Praxis Care support staff who know the nominees best.
The ceremony took place at the Ramsey Park Hotel on Thursday 9th July, bringing together more than 100 nominees, family members, friends and support workers to celebrate stories of resilience, personal development and community involvement.
Held during Disability Pride Month, the event recognised achievements across five categories: Community Award, Co-production, Praxis Talent, Mastery Milestone, and Health & Wellbeing. A special Resilience Award was also introduced for the inaugural Isle of Man ceremony, recognising an individual who had demonstrated exceptional strength and positivity in overcoming personal challenges.
Among those recognised was Louise, whose determination to improve her health and wellbeing has helped her build greater confidence and independence. After making the decision to stop smoking, she has embraced new experiences, including expanding her diet and developing new cooking and baking skills.
Also recognised was Robbie, a veteran whose commitment to managing his diabetes and maintaining an active lifestyle has enabled him to remain independent despite significant mobility challenges.

There are so many stories of courage, resilience, and hope. Despite the challenges faced by each of the nominees, they continue to mark personal milestones with determination and heart. It is a privilege to celebrate this progress with them.”
