Following a government funded £12.7m refurbishment of this historic building, the team at the Opera House is making the final preparations before reopening its doors for a full programme of performance from the 3rd of October.
The island’s 125 year old Opera House will reopen its doors this Friday with a fabulous gala evening titled Encore! Welcome Home. This will feature an amazing cast of homegrown talent, some of whom have performed in large West End theatres.
The Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, Deputy Kirsten Morel said: “It is really exciting to see the Opera House ready to reopen for a new season of performance as the heart of the island’s cultural life. The arts are an important part of our community, and I am pleased with the progress that is being made under the new leadership at JOHL.”
Laura Robertson (pictured), interim Chair commented: “Our programme for the Autumn and Winter offers something for everyone, including sell out performances from Gilbert O’Sullivan and Jasper Carrott to Rory Bremner. We are thrilled that islanders are keen to return to the newly refurbished Opera House, and we look forward to welcoming them through our doors from the 3rd of October.”
