A series of free public events sponsored by Butterfield will be staged during this year’s Jersey Festival of Words to celebrate the addition of two brand new characters to the bestselling Mr. Men/Little Miss universe.

Publishers of the classic children’s book series have announced that Mr. Fib and Little Miss Surprise will join the range on 12th September 2024, over fifty years after Mr. Tickle, the very first Mr. Men book, was published.

“It’s always fun creating new characters to add to the series, although I’ve got a way to go to catch up with my dad,” said author Adam Hargreaves. “A Mr. Fib has been rattling around in my imagination for a long while and Little Miss Surprise, of course, popped into my head right out of the blue!”

The four storytelling events featuring the brand new characters will take place in Millennium Park during the Festival on Saturday 28th September. Event sponsor
Butterfield has purchased 100 copies of the new book, all of which will be personally signed by Adam Hargreaves, and will be given as a gift to the first 100 children to arrive at the sessions.

“Butterfield is delighted to be supporting the Jersey Festival of Words as they mark their ninth year of hosting this important event,” said Michelle Le Blond, Branch Manager of Butterfield Bank Jersey. “We hope that islanders, both young and young at heart, enjoy meeting the Mr. Men and Little Miss characters who are a cherished part of many of our childhoods and we look forward to welcoming the community to the free storytelling sessions.”
