A new Innovation Programme has been launched through Impact Jersey to help innovators more easily turn technology-driven ideas into solutions that can benefit Jersey’s economy, environment and community.
Open year-round and without specific deadlines, the Programme has been developed in response to feedback, to provide local entrepreneurs and businesses with access to a rolling funding opportunity through a simple application process, tailored to three different tiers of funding according to the scale of the project.
With an emphasis on flexibility and targeted support, the Programme aims to accelerate innovation by funding pilot projects, proofs of concept and scalable solutions that align with Jersey’s strategic priorities – including improving productivity, housing needs, health and wellbeing, responding to the climate emergency and ensuring islanders have the right skills to thrive in an increasingly competitive global economy.
In addition, the new Programme aims to go beyond just funding by providing bespoke support, through personalised advice, clinics and partner introductions.
The latest enhancement to Impact Jersey reflects a concerted effort to evolve the scheme to better support innovation in Jersey. It complements and builds on the existing programmes, with the aim of offering greater flexibility and the tailored support innovators invariably need.
Commenting on the launch of the new addition to Impact Jersey, Tony Moretta, CEO of Digital Jersey – the delivery partner for Impact Jersey – said: “This new Programme is about helping to turn good ideas – large and small – into real outcomes that can benefit Jersey’s people, economy and environment. We’ve listened hard to what innovators need in terms of support as well as funding and adapted the programme accordingly – enabling them to apply for funding and guidance when they’re ready, not just when a window happens to be open.
“Of course, this is all backed up by a robust oversight and assessment framework to ensure we can support local innovation in a way that helps us to build a better island. We’re really excited to start receiving applications under this new programme and backing the brightest tech solutions to deliver impact for Jersey.”
