Jersey’s Mental Health Recovery Hub has launched a new website to make it easier for Islanders to access support.
Part of Health and Care Jersey’s Mental Health Service, the Recovery Hub provides free community‑based educational courses and activities to support Islanders with their mental and physical wellbeing and personal recovery. It focuses on shared learning and empowerment rather than clinical treatment, offering a welcoming, non‑judgmental space where people can develop skills and undertake activities to help take care of their mental health.
Courses and activities have been co‑developed and co‑delivered by people with lived experience of mental illness. They aim to help Islanders build confidence, develop new skills, connect with others and support their recovery.
The new website, which has been launched during Mental Health Awareness Month of May, includes an accessible online booking platform, allowing Islanders to view courses, check eligibility, and book onto activities in a straightforward and inclusive way, helping more people to access support at a time that works for them.
Some courses and activities are open to all Islanders, while others are available to those under the care of Adult Mental Health Services, with eligibility outlined on the website.
Andy Weir, Health and Care Jersey Managing Director said: “The Mental Health Recovery Hub is a key part of our all-island approach to improving mental health and wellbeing. The hub aligns with our all-age mental health strategy, which was launched earlier this year, and focuses on prevention, early intervention and supporting people to improve their wellbeing and recovery – including creating new connections for people.
“By working in partnership with people who have lived experience and offering free, accessible courses, the Hub helps to reduce stigma, build resilience and tackle inequalities in access to support. This community based, recovery focused model will help enable people to get the right help at the right time.”
Katie Taylor, Lead Mental Health Social Worker and Head of Rehab Services said: “The Mental Health Recovery Hub plays a key role in supporting Islanders to maintain their mental and physical wellbeing. We would encourage anyone who feels they could benefit to explore the wide range of free, inclusive courses available.
“The courses have been co-designed with people who have lived experience of mental health challenges, these courses provide practical tools to build confidence, develop new skills and connect with others, helping individuals take positive steps towards their recovery and wellbeing.”
