LibertyBus has teamed up with Pelican Engineering once again for the trial of another state-of-the-art zero-emission bus.
The bus is currently undergoing trials from 12 March to 15 March 2024. It is commencing out-of-service trials across all routes.
This model is slightly longer than the previous bus that has been trialled, allowing LibertyBus to increase the number of seats inside, thereby enhancing passenger comfort. The vehicle is equipped with electric air conditioning, ensuring excellent comfort for passengers throughout the year.
The vehicle is electrically driven, using a single drive motor which is powered by CATL 255 kWh batteries. This means that the vehicle can complete over 195 miles on a single charge and the vehicle can be fully charged within 2 hours.
Ian Downie, Head of Yutong UK commented: “We are honoured to be working again with LibertyBus, to demonstrate our range of electric buses. The benefits of our vehicles are that they are tried, tested and proven around the world. Not only are they zero emission, but they also have unrivalled passenger comfort, including full air conditioning. This will encourage the travelling public to leave their cars at home use public transport, further decarbonising Jersey”
Commenting on the trial, Kevin Hart, Director for LibertyBus said: “We are excited about trialling this electric bus on the Island. The previous vehicle we trialled had great manoeuvrability and although this vehicle is 0.6m longer we are confident it will be just as good. On Thursday morning (14 March) between 11:00 and 13:00 the bus will be on show outside Liberation Station and we invite the community of Jersey to get on board and take a look at this zero emission bus. Whilst we already have 2 electric buses in service we feel it is important to try other vehicles on the market to find the right solution for Jersey.”
