LibertyBus are teaming up with Pelican Engineering, the UK’s Yutong bus supplier, to trial another state of the art zero emission Double Decker Bus.
The bus will be on trial from 29 January – 15 February 2025. Once some out of service trials have been conducted, the bus will be trialled live in service on route 15.
Although other electric buses have been trialled, LibertyBus is making sure it trials all options before committing to purchasing such vehicles.
The bus being trialed this time round, a Yutong Double Decker, is a versatile battery- electric double decker bus that provides a comfortable travelling experience for up to 70 seated passengers in the specification evaluated by LibertyBus. The bus also boasts full air conditioning, industry leading safety systems, electronic destination blinds and 338km mileage from a single charge.
Commenting on the trial, Kevin Hart, Director for LibertyBus said: “Its great teaming up with Pelican Engineering again to trial the latest Yutong Double Decker Electric Bus. The bus can travel up to 338 km on a single charge, and we just have to make sure it can cope with the Jersey roads. The bus seats an impressive 70 people with maximum comfort and room for an additional 12 people standing. Hopefully our customers will like the bus and we welcome feedback.”
Ian Downie, Head of Yutong UK commented: “We are honoured to be working again with LibertyBus, to demonstrate our range of electric buses. The benefits of our vehicles are that they are tried, tested and proven around the world. Not only are they zero emission, but they also have unrivalled passenger comfort, including full air conditioning. This will encourage the travelling public to leave their cars at home use public transport, further decarbonising Jersey.”
