Staff in the Guernsey office of fund and private client service provider JTC held a ‘Great Pancake Race’ at Admiral Park on 1st March, to raise money for local charity ‘The Accidental Zoo’.

Participating teams from JTC and other corporate businesses, many of which are based in offices neighbouring JTC’s at Admiral Park, took part in the inaugural race, which raised a total of £654.

Eight teams of three, representing Butterfield, Ocorian, D2, Babbe, Canaccord and JTC, completed a short relay course in the courtyard between Dorey Court and Martello Court in very wet conditions. The participants each chose a ‘racing pancake’ which they needed to flip three times before running to next base to hand over to their colleagues. The team from Butterfield clocked the winning time at 25.73 seconds.

JTC became a Gold Partner of the Accidental Zoo earlier in the year. The Guernsey-based charity uses its animal resources and rural outdoor space to provide positive experiences to educate, inspire and support people living in the Bailiwick.

JTC’s Guernsey Managing Director, James Tracey, said: “We would like to thank everyone who participated in our first ever Great Pancake Race and demonstrated such team spirit in braving the elements to help us raise money for The Accidental Zoo. We are so proud to be a ‘Gold Partner’ of the charity and to have supported them with our fundraising efforts this Shrove Tuesday.

“The Accidental Zoo is focused on education, social impact, and mental and physical wellbeing, all of which are aligned with our ‘stronger together’ ethos, and we are excited to be building a lasting partnership with them in order to maximise the positive impact that we can have.”
