Jersey’s airport officials have warned of potential delays this weekend due to nationwide strikes in France.
EasyJet is among the airlines forced to cancel a number services across the UK and its Jersey operations may also be affected.
Quoting from the airline, a travel update issued by Jersey Airport said: ‘As the majority of the easyJet operation flies over French airspace there may be disruption to all flights across the easyJet network due to industrial action in France. Passengers must check the easyJet app BEFORE travelling to the Airport for the most up to date flight information.
‘In the event of flight delays or cancellations please check flight tracker/easyJet app, or alternatively check the airline website or contact the easyJet Customer Service Centre.’
France’s nationwide strike – the largest in years – has severely disrupted schools and public transport across country. Workers are angry at President Emmanuel Macron’s plans for a universal points-based pension system, which could see people being forces to retire later or face reduced pensions.
Jersey Airport said that disruption was expected until Saturday 7 December.
