In its first year, Jersey Electricity’s community-giving initiative has achieved a measurable impact with 98 applications received and 35 projects approved.
30 organisations have been supported in areas across health, education, the environment and diversity, equity and inclusion.
Having launched in January 2025, the initiative has seen great engagement from applicable organisations. With 100 Projects That Matter, JE sought out to create stronger relationships within the community, committing to working alongside organisations to bring their projects to life, focused on its core pillars, health, education, the environment and diversity, equity and inclusion.
Amongst the charity’s supported is Dementia Jersey, Freeda and Jersey Child Care Trust. Each charity applied strong applications aligned to the key pillars and outlined the community benefits and key objectives.
Dementia Jersey received support to produce a series of informative videos offering practical tips for carers looking after loved ones with dementia. Freeda Jersey was awarded funding to host a thought-provoking panel discussion (pictured) on White Ribbon Day, aimed at fostering a safer and more inclusive community in Jersey. Meanwhile, Jersey Child Care Trust benefited from funding to deliver Makaton Signing training to over 20 early years practitioners and support workers. This training means the charity’s team can build stronger relationships with the 80+ children they support in nurseries across Jersey, ensuring every child is heard.
JE’s Head of Marketing and Communications, Adam Caerlewy-Smith, said: “We are thrilled with the incredible response to our 100 Projects That Matter initiative in its first year.
“Receiving 98 applications and supporting 35 impactful projects demonstrates the strength and creativity within our community. The engagement from schools, charities, and local organisations has been inspiring, and it reinforces our commitment to working together on projects that promote health, education, the environment and inclusion. We look forward to building on this success and continuing to make a meaningful difference in 2026.”
