Stephen Alexander, a partner at Mourant, a law firm-led professional services business, has been appointed as chair of the Jersey branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
Stephen (pictured) succeeds Fiona MacFarlane in the role after he was elected by local STEP members at a recent committee meeting.
A Jersey advocate, an English solicitor and a Cayman Islands Attorney at Law, Stephen is Head of Litigation at Mourant’s Jersey practice and has been providing advice to the private client industry for over 13 years.
“It’s a privilege to be appointed as chair of our branch of STEP,” Stephen said. “I care deeply about our private client industry and volunteer for STEP so that I can play my part in assessing what the industry is doing well and less well and how it can be improved.
“I’d like to thank Fiona for her time as chair and look forward to building on her legacy by continuing to drive value for our members, stage insightful events and provide a support network for practitioners across the industry.”
STEP’s Jersey branch has around 1,200 members and hosts monthly CPD seminars and an annual day-long international conference. STEP provides qualifications for practitioners and the local branch supports its members throughout their studies.
