Health Eye: Fat loss… the law of diminishing returns

Understanding this ‘sorts the men from the boys’.

When I work with clients on a fat loss goal, we always see a rapid initial fat loss phase when the stimulus is novel.

It’s normal for clients to lose upwards of 4kg of body fat in their first month and I have dozens of transformations that will attest to that.  However, the real work begins is when this initial fat loss slows down.

The science is pretty simple. You are losing less fat because there is less fat to lose.

But everyone wants to maintain the blast rate, and when it slows down most people think they need to change things up when actually it’s just about maintaining consistency.

Don’t worry if you’ve made this mistake before though, because guess what…. I did too!

I would bounce from one technique to another in my first couple of years training before I realised simplicity and consistency were far more valuable than buzzwords and ‘plate spinning’

‘Stick with what got you to the dance‘.

This is what I teach my team and it’s why we not only have so many incredible transformations but also why my clients are constantly progressing. They are not hopping from one tactic to the next, they are implementing lifestyle changes to maintain and build on their momentum.
