Guernsey has hosted the Gala Dinner and intronisation ceremony of the international Champagne society, L’ordre des Coteaux de Champagne, for the first time.

Held at La Fregate Hotel on Saturday 4th July, the event welcomed members and guests from across the region, together with Antoine Roland-Billecart of the Champagne House Billecart-Salmon. The gala, which has traditionally been held in locations across Europe and Asia, marked a milestone for the Channel Islands chapter.

Led by Consul Simon Dufty, the Channel Islands chapter has continued to grow and now has 73 members following the induction of six new members during the ceremony.

The Guernsey event combined the society’s traditional investiture ceremony with a Champagne reception and gala dinner, celebrating the heritage and craftsmanship of Champagne while bringing together enthusiasts from across the Channel Islands and beyond.

General Manager of La Fregate, Simon Dufty, said: “Bringing the intronisation to Guernsey for the first time is a real milestone for us. It was fantastic to welcome members and guests to the island and share the heritage, tradition and sheer enjoyment of Champagne in such a special setting.”

Vice Commandeur Antoine Roland-Billecart added: “Champagne is about bringing people together and creating memorable experiences. Joining the Channel Islands chapter in Guernsey for this landmark occasion was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the passion for Champagne that connects enthusiasts around the world.”
