International property and construction consultancy Gleeds is to provide Project Management Office services on the first phase of a significant investment into the redevelopment of Elizabeth Harbour.

Gleeds was appointed by the Ports of Jersey and will be responsible for providing Project Management Office (PMO) services – including cost, risk, commercial and programme management – throughout Stage 01 of the scheme, which is set to deliver a host of benefits once complete. The extensive regeneration will see the harbour’s capacity for freight increase and passenger facilities improve, as well as delivering enhanced safety features and new public realm areas for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Part of the St Helier Harbour Master Plan, the project forms part of a wider programme of works that will transform maritime infrastructure in St Helier, covering Elizabeth Harbour, New North Quay, Albert Pier, Victoria Pier, and the Old Harbours. The broader ambition is to create a vibrant, modern waterfront community which will increase resilience and strengthen the island’s position as a maritime trade and tourism hub.

Commenting on the appointment, Chris Tunnicliffe (pictured), Head of PMO and Controls at Gleeds said: “This project represents a commitment from the Ports of Jersey to futureproofing its own operations while supporting the local economy and improving passenger experience. Our team has extensive experience of delivering complex projects like these in the maritime sector which will allow us to provide critical insight and apply proven methodologies to support its ambitious vision for St. Helier.”

“This is an exciting, transformative programme that will showcase Gleeds’ integrated PMO approach coupled with our extensive digital and technical capabilities. By utilising the plethora of tools we have at our disposal, we’ll be able to enhance efficiency, transparency and control across the lifecycle of the Elizabeth Harbour redevelopment,” he went on to add.
