Aurigny has added extra Alderney flights to its schedule after an increase in demand following the creation of a ‘Bailiwick bubble.’
After entering Phase 5 of its lockdown exit strategy, free movement is now allowed within the Bailiwick islands of Guernsey, Herm, Sark and Alderney. It is hoped the new schedule, which includes additional flights on Friday and Sunday, will encourage more people to visit the northernmost Channel Island.
‘Due to extra demand as we enter Phase 5 and in conjunction with the Bailiwick “Staycation” promotion, Aurigny have put on extra flights to Alderney,’ said an Aurigny spokesperson.
‘It is hoped by putting on extra flights, especially those on Friday and Sunday, that people may take advantage of a long weekend in Alderney.’
Guernsey’s government launched a staycation campaign to help support the Bailiwick’s hospitality and tourism businesses in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
