Enable Jersey has announced the official opening of its new Equipment Hub, giving Islanders affordable access to repurposed care and mobility equipment.
The official launch will take place on Monday 6 October between 11:45am and 12:45pm, when His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor of Jersey will cut the ribbon to formally open the Equipment Hub, at La Collette Recycling Centre.
The Equipment Hub is the result of two years of collaboration and development, led by Enable Jersey in partnership with Government, charities, and private organisations. The goal is to address the high costs and lack of availability of mobility and care equipment, which is a growing problem in the community and can often create barriers for individuals seeking to maintain independence at home or return home after a hospital stay.
By collecting donated, good-quality used equipment, such as profile beds, rise and recliner chairs, mobility scooters, wheelchairs, and walkers, the Hub ensures every item is professionally checked, tested, and serviced, before being made available for purchase at a fraction of the cost of buying new. In 2025, Enable Jersey has received over 300 requests for mobility equipment, showing just how vital this service is to Jersey’s residents.
“This is a truly fantastic community project,” said Enable Jersey CEO, Sean Pontin.
“We’ve brought together Government, charity and private partners to support people in Jersey who need care equipment. For the first time, Islanders have genuine, affordable choices, and that is essential. We make sure expensive equipment is reused wherever possible and, if not, recycled responsibly.”
Open Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am to 4pm (and other times by appointment), the Equipment Hub also offers collection and delivery services by arrangement, making it easier than ever for members of the public to access or donate equipment.
