Earlier this year the Digital Greenhouse launched the Guernsey Venture Challenge, Guernsey’s first funded startup accelerator competition, working in partnership with expert venture builders Blenheim Chalcot.

Launched this year and run by the Digital Greenhouse in partnership with Blenheim Chalcot, the Guernsey Venture Challenge (GVC) is the island’s first funded business accelerator. GVC is for new businesses based in Guernsey looking to scale. It gives the opportunity to attain early stage funding to accelerate their development and help get established.

The challenge offers £65,000 of grants to support local startup businesses, comprising of:

  • £40,000 First Prize
  • £20,000 Second Prize
  • £5,000 Young-preneur Prize for the best entrepreneur under the age of 25.

Open to new businesses based in Guernsey looking to launch and grow, the opportunity to win early stage funding to accelerate their development has been met with much interest from the local community.

Guernsey resident(s) that have a fledgling business or who are in the process of starting a new business in Guernsey can apply for the GVC.  We are looking for startup businesses who would benefit from early stage funding to accelerate their growth.

The application criteria for the competition is as follows:

  • Applicants must be resident in Guernsey – if their business is operating, it can be as a Sole Trader or registered with the Guernsey Registry.
  • Applicant’s business must have raised no more than £150K funding to date.
  • Applications can be from any sector or business type.

The venture challenge brings £65,000 of funding to support local startup businesses including a £40,000 top prize, £20,000 second place prize and a £5,000 youngpreneur award to support an entrepreneur under the age of 25.

Businesses can apply directly on the Digital Greenhouse website, applications will close on Friday 1st July and shortlisting will take place over the following weeks. Selected successful businesses will receive an intensive six week programme of support from an expert mentor during the summer to prepare for  the competition pitch finals will be held in early September.
