Colleagues from the Channel Islands Coop laced up their walking boots for this year’s Jersey Coop to Coop Walk, which took place on Friday 19 September.
The event raised funds for Jersey Cheshire Home, supporting islanders with disabilities, and will also help spur on five Coop colleagues who will take on the Trek Vietnam Challenge in October.
The Vietnam trek will see the group walking long distances each day in hot and humid conditions, navigating steep climbs, uneven terrain, and minimal shade. It’s a tough test of endurance, determination, and teamwork – all for a cause close to their hearts.
The Jersey walk covered 24 Coop premises, with 30 colleagues starting at Trinity Fuel at 9am and finishing eight hours later at Pontac, a distance of 23 miles and covering 49,000 steps. The walk gave colleagues the chance to get active, take part in their community, and raise money for a local charity making a real difference.
Coop CEO Mark Cox, who is one of those taking part in the Vietnam Trek, said: “The five of us taking part in the Vietnam Challenge pushed ourselves to the limit to support Jersey Cheshire Home, so we really appreciate the efforts our colleagues went to to get right behind us. The Coop to Coop Walk is a great way for everyone in the business to get involved – walking the whole route or just part of it, and every step helps to raise funds for a much valued charity.”
