The Channel Islands Coop has extended its partnership with Carrefour, one of France’s largest food retailers.
The inclusion of further Carrefour products in Channel Islands Coop stores brings an assortment of new goods, including fresh produce, dairy products, frozen foods, pantry staples, household essentials, personal care items, and more.
The French supermarket giant has stocked its products in selected Coop stores since March 2021, with the new offering now including the Bio and Simpl ranges. This collaboration aims to offer an enhanced grocery shopping experience with an expanded selection of diverse products.
The Bio range has been making organic food accessible to all since 1992, with a wide range of quality everyday products from French organic sectors. Nearly 80% of all Carrefour Bio products are manufactured in France and since 2023 the entire range is palm oil-free. Carrefour Bio is also committed to reducing the ecological impact of its packaging and has reduced plastic usage by more than 75% since 2019.
Kevin Mowatt, Head of Trading Retail Operations at the Channel Islands Coop said: “This partnership brings together the expertise and commitment to sustainability shared by both Carrefour and Channel Islands Coop. Carrefour is renowned for its initiatives in sustainable sourcing, reducing food waste, and supporting local communities, and the Channel Islands Co-op, with its focus on supporting local suppliers and reducing environmental impact, aligns perfectly with Carrefour’s values and mission.
“The extended offering from Carrefour at Coop stores will also address some of the supply chain issues that the UK has experienced since Brexit. With the increased cost of customs duties and tariffs now applying to products crossing the ‘new border’ and the impact it has had on stock availability, the increased range will give customers across the Channel Islands access to more diverse and affordable groceries.”
