Carey Olsen has announced that it has promoted three Jersey lawyers to the partnership with effect from 1 July 2025, as part of its group-wide promotions round.
The Jersey firm’s new partners are Katherine Tresca (pictured), Matthew Ecobichon and Nick Ghazi, who are all qualified Jersey advocates and specialise in corporate law.
Katherine’s practice covers a broad area of Jersey corporate law, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions (both private and public, including via members’ schemes of arrangement), equity capital markets transactions (including US and UK IPOs) and downstream private equity transactions. Katherine joined Carey Olsen in 2010, having trained and qualified as a solicitor in Scotland. She is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh (LLB, 2006). She became an Advocate of the Royal Court of Jersey in 2021 and is also a member of the Law Society of Scotland (solicitor; currently non-practising).

Matthew has been with Carey Olsen in Jersey for 21 years, advising clients including leading international law firms and global institutions on a range of structured finance, securitisation and high yield transactions. Matthew has extensive experience with listing specialist debt securities on TISE and regularly advises on transactions involving Eurobonds and other TISE listed securities, including high yield, asset backed securities and variable funding notes. Matthew qualified as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 2007 and became an Advocate of the Royal Court of Jersey in 2009.

Nick’s practice focuses on all aspects of debt finance, in particular fund finance, real estate finance, leveraged finance and restructurings. He has particular expertise advising financial institutions and funds on a wide range of fund financing transactions, including subscription line facilities, NAV facilities, hybrids, umbrella facilities and GP co-invest facilities. Nick joined Carey Olsen in 2017, having previously worked with Addleshaw Goddard and having also spent five years working in various commercial roles with RBS. Nick qualified as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 2014 and became an Advocate of the Royal Court of Jersey in 2024.
Carey Olsen Jersey managing partner Simon Marks said: “Katherine, Matthew and Nick have each shown exceptional commitment to providing the highest level of legal advice and client service. These promotions are very well deserved and they are joining the partnership at an exciting time. I have no doubt that Katherine, Matthew and Nick will enjoy their new roles and will each make a significant contribution to the continued success of Carey Olsen in Jersey.”
