
Business Risk and Internal Control Manager
Are you passionate about risk management and driving a strong control culture? Skipton International is seeking a Business Risk & Control Manager to play a pivotal role in embedding and enhancing our internal control framework. This senior position within the Chief Operating Office will influence business-wide initiatives, ensuring risks are effectively managed in line with our strategic goals and risk appetite.
You’ll be a key advocate for risk as a business enabler, working across departments to promote a positive risk culture and ensure robust governance, regulatory compliance, and operational resilience.
Key Accountabilities
- Risk Management: Implement and champion the Risk Management Framework across the business. Provide oversight and challenge to risk and control owners, ensuring risks are managed within appetite and actions are completed on time.
- Governance & Reporting: Own and deliver high-quality reporting for the Business Risk and Control Committee. Prepare and contribute to governance forums including the Customer Selection and Exit Management Committee.
- Thematic Reviews: Conduct insightful reviews that drive operational improvements and influence change.
- Third Party Risk: Oversee the Third Party Risk Management Framework, ensuring effective oversight of external relationships.
- Business Continuity: Ensure the Business Continuity Plan is current and regularly tested through the Health & Safety and Facilities Manager.
- Regulatory Reporting: Coordinate timely and accurate first-line regulatory reporting, including FATCA, CRS, and GFSC returns.
- Leadership: Manage and develop a small team, setting clear objectives and supporting professional growth.
- Culture & Engagement: Promote Skipton’s values and behaviours, ensuring customer outcomes are at the heart of decision-making.
Requirements
Essential:
- Educated to degree level.
- Strong knowledge of risk management principles and frameworks.
- Experience in regulatory reporting and financial services risk.
- Proven line management experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Desirable:
- Professional qualification in risk or compliance (e.g., IRM, ICA).
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge of Business Continuity Planning and Third Party Risk Management.
- Background in customer service within financial services.
