ATF Fuels to join Jersey supply system as greener fuel options paused

ATF Fuels is to move to Jersey’s centralised fuel supply system amid rising supply chain costs, with some renewable fuel blends set to be paused in the short term.

The company confirmed it will now source fuel through La Collette Terminal Limited, aligning its supply with other providers on the Island following a review of its operations.

ATF entered Jersey’s fuel market in 2014, aiming to provide fuel at competitive and transparent prices. It introduced ‘discount days’ at its forecourts and, more recently, launched a fuel payments and rewards app.

In recent years, however, the company said its approach has come under pressure from increasing costs across the supply chain.

Alongside rising logistics and shipping costs, ATF said it has also faced “additional premiums associated with supplying renewable fuels, E10 petrol and B7 diesel”. These factors led to the decision to move to a lower-cost supply chain rather than passing on higher costs to customers.

As part of the change, ATF will now supply fuel to the same specifications currently sold by other providers on the Island. This means it will not be able to supply E10 petrol or B7 diesel at its forecourts in the short term.

“While ATF has continued to offer consistently competitive pricing, we are concerned that without adapting our supply chain now, we would not be able to continue delivering the outcomes Jersey motorists and heating oil customers have benefited from over the last ten years,” said Jonathan Best, Director at ATF Fuels.

“This decision has therefore been taken to safeguard our long-standing commitment to the Island.”

ATF said that using La Collette Terminal Limited will allow it to remain part of the Island’s fuel infrastructure while focusing on efficiency, transparency and cost control.

“This structure provides ATF with appropriate operational involvement and oversight, strengthens our independence, and supports effective cost control within the supply chain,” added Jonathan Best.

“We view this as a prudent and forward-looking step that reinforces ATF’s commitment to fair pricing and responsible operation. We thank our customers for their continued support and look forward to continuing to serve Jersey in the years ahead.”
