Arthouse Jersey launches new mentoring programme for visual artists

ArtHouse Jersey is inviting applications for a new professional development programme offering five visual artists the opportunity to receive one-to-one mentoring with art consultant and mediator Sasha Gibb.

Running from November 2026 to June 2027, the Visual Artist Mentoring Programme forms part of ArtHouse Jersey’s ongoing investment in artists and the nurturing of creative practice. The programme is open to visual artists living and working in Jersey, as well as Jersey-connected artists currently based elsewhere.

Each of the five selected artists will receive a programme of mentoring shaped around their individual practice, ambitions and professional development needs.

Sessions may take place face-to-face or online and will be scheduled over the course of the programme according to what will be most useful to each artist.

Mentoring could include critical discussion around an artist’s work and creative direction, navigating professional decisions, presenting and communicating their practice, pricing and commercial considerations, or developing relationships with galleries and museums.

Tom Dingle, Chief Executive of ArtHouse Jersey, said: “Nurturing artists and supporting the development of their practice is a really important part of what ArtHouse Jersey is here to do. That support isn’t only about creating opportunities to make or show work; sometimes having the time and space to reflect, alongside the perspective of an experienced and objective professional, can be just as valuable. This programme gives artists access to that kind of dedicated support over a meaningful period of time. Sasha can act as a professional ally, someone who can listen, challenge, offer direction and help artists think clearly about their practice and where they want to take it next. We’re really pleased to be investing in that opportunity for artists with a connection to Jersey.”

The mentoring will be delivered by Sasha Gibb, an art consultant and accredited mediator with experience spanning the arts, business and professional development. Sasha previously worked with ArtHouse Jersey and spent six years as Gallery Director at CCA Galleries, where she launched the Jersey Summer Exhibition. Her wider experience includes consultancy for the Government of Jersey, design workshops for the British Council and, in 2024, mediating discussions involving Korean artists and curators at the Venice Biennale. She currently mentors artists based across the UK and Korea.

Art consultant and mediator Sasha Gibb said: “Artist mentoring gives artists dedicated space to think seriously about their practice, find their voice and navigate the professional decisions that come with building a creative career. Bringing an experienced outside perspective to both the creative and practical realities of being an artist can be incredibly valuable. Every artist will come to the programme with different ambitions and challenges, so the mentoring will be shaped around the individual. I’m really looking forward to working with the selected artists, helping them build confidence and clarity around their practice and where they want to take it next.”
