Guernsey Electricity has raised £2,100 to help support islanders living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) through the sale of its calendars.

Each year, Guernsey Electricity produces a calendar using photographs of local scenes which have been taken by its employees. The winning photo on this year’s front cover, ‘Moulin Huet’, was taken by Sam Thompson.

Sam chose the Multiple Sclerosis Society Bailiwick of Guernsey Branch as the beneficiary of this year’s calendar sales.

Sam Thompson, Financial Planning Analyst at Guernsey Electricity, said: “The cause has a personal connection to me and I would like to thank everyone who purchased a calendar and helped raise money for the local branch of the MS Society.”

The charity will be using the money to assist members of the community with the cost of respite care.

“The Guernsey Multiple Sclerosis Society is extremely grateful to Guernsey Electricity and in particular, Sam Thompson, for choosing us as its charity this year. The funds raised will help us to support people living with MS in the Bailiwick by assisting with day care costs for those who require occasional respite at the Leonard Cheshire Home,” said the charity’s Chair Linda Fermont.

The calendar, which was sold in Guernsey Electricity’s shop in the Vale, featured photos of L’Ancresse, Saints Bay, Amarreurs, Bordeaux and Vazon. Clare Packman, Communications and Digital Advisor at Guernsey Electricity, said the calendar increases in popularity year-on-year.

“It’s been another successful year for our calendar and we’re delighted to present £2,100 to such a fantastic charity. The calendar not only raises much needed funds for local charities but also awareness, so we’re incredibly grateful to the public and our colleagues who make it possible to create the calendar each year,” said Clare.
