A record number of applicants have put their names forward to join the Board of the CI Coop as Directors.
There are two seats available, one in Guernsey and one in Jersey, and there are seven nominations in Guernsey and ten in Jersey.
Eligible Coop Members will choose who they want to represent them on the Board, with online voting now open and in-person voting taking place at the Annual Members Meetings held on 19th May at the St Pierre Park Hotel in Guernsey and on 20th May in Jersey at the Radisson Blu Hotel. Both meetings start at 18.30 with registration open from 17.30.
Mark Cox (pictured), CEO of CI Coop, says this year’s interest reflects something special about the business model: “The Coop is unique because it belongs to its customers. When Members vote, they are helping steer the direction of their own business. That level of community influence is something most retailers can’t offer.”
Kevin Kelly, Chief Governance Officer at CI Coop, adds: “Serving on the Board is a real opportunity to protect and strengthen a model that reinvests in the islands, prioritises fairness, and puts members first. The more people who vote, the stronger the democratic pulse of the Society becomes.”
