A new 24/7 automated payment telephone line and improved website journey are two of the benefits that Guernsey Electricity’s customers will notice following the introduction of a system for paying their bills.

The local utility has partnered with CityPay, a financial services business operating in the Island and the UK, to launch new facilities that will allow customers to settle their electricity bills and works invoices more efficiently and securely.

For telephone payments, these no longer need to take place only during office hours, as the facility offers a 24-hour automated telephone payment service. The web payment process has also been streamlined following customer feedback.

These improvements come as part of Guernsey Electricity’s ongoing commitment to providing accessible and user-friendly services to its customers, which includes recent promotions of their e-billing service which has been taken up by around a third of customers. Improved payment services within Guernsey Electricity’s retail store and website are also expected to follow shortly.

Steven Parks, Head of Customer Experience at Guernsey Electricity Limited, said: “CityPay has revolutionised the way we handle payments for our customers. Their secure payment system has brought them 21st century technology and ensured every transaction is processed with the utmost safety and reliability.

“Thousands of customers can now make payments 24/7, offering flexibility to manage bills conveniently outside of our opening hours. The user-friendly interface and efficient service has enhanced both our customer experience and business efficiencies over last few months, so I can safely say CityPay has been an invaluable partner in our drive to provide an excellent service.”

CityPay’s CEO Norberto Martins, said: “We are pleased to have been awarded the contract to deliver secure, reliable, and cost-effective methods of accepting card payments for Guernsey Electricity customers. This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to excellence in payment solutions to our Guernsey clients.”
