HSBC launches employee female leadership programme with pan-island cohort
Share on LinkedInTwitterFacebookEmail

Fifteen colleagues from across HSBC’s Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man teams are taking part in a new female leadership programme from this month.

The programme aims to nurture a workplace environment that champions gender equity and provides a clear pathway enabling female leaders to flourish.

The cohort for the programme, called ‘HSBC Rise’, will come together to take part in a number of workshops and interactive coaching sessions over the second half of 2023, all aimed at developing female talent and helping them to better navigate career-related challenges and prepare them for more senior roles. In particular, the sessions will focus on leadership potential and maximising that talent, exploring the feeling of personal empowerment and leadership gravitas, with the aim of having a lasting impact on personal and professional growth.

The sessions are being facilitated by Emma Lloyd, an external Learning and Development Coach and Consultant who has led a number of HSBC management programmes. Senior sponsors of the programme are Elvina Aghajanyan, Head of Human Resources and Cameron Senior, Interim Head of Wealth and Personal  Banking, at HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man.

Commenting on the importance of the RISE programme, Elvina said: “Studies have found that significant numbers of women left the global workforce as a result of the pandemic, some permanently, and we are not immune to that as a sector or as an organisation. The challenge of nurturing a truly diverse workforce, though goes much deeper than the pandemic, which is why we are committed as an employer to creating a safe environment that embraces true gender equity  and where everyone can thrive.”

HSBC wants to empower female colleagues and give them a platform to become future leaders, added Cameron: “HSBC Rise is as development programme that invests in and builds a talent pipeline of future female talent across our business, which importantly forms part of our overall People Strategy aimed at delivering and building a genuine culture across the business that values equity, diversity and inclusion.”
