Jersey Sport has a brand-new electric van on the road, thanks to the generous support of HSBC.
This new addition means that Jersey Sport can take the Cycle Without Limits Inclusive Cycling Centre on the move, bringing the joy of cycling to even more people across the Island who may be living with a disability or facing mobility challenges.
Cycle Without Limits, which is delivered at the cycle track behind Les Quennevais Sports Centre, offers specially adapted bikes and one-on-one support for children and adults with disabilities. With help from a fantastic team of trained instructors and volunteers, the centre gives participants – and their families, carers or friends – a safe, supportive place to experience the freedom and fun of cycling.
Now, thanks to HSBC’s support, this experience can be taken on the road. The new van allows the bikes to be brought directly to those who might not be able to make it to Les Quennevais, making it easier for everyone to stay active and feel part of a community.
David Kennedy, CEO of Jersey Sport, said: “We are incredibly grateful to HSBC for their generous sponsorship of a new electric van for our Cycle Without Limits project. As a project entirely funded through charitable fundraising, this support makes a massive difference to us. The van will help us expand our reach and continue delivering vital opportunities in a more sustainable way.”
Warwick Long, CEO of HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man, added: “HSBC is committed to supporting the communities where we operate and identifying and addressing barriers that may stop people from accessing opportunities. We’re extremely proud to support the Cycle Without Limits programme and to be working with Jersey Sport to enable people around the island to enjoy the many benefits of cycling.
“Our goal is to help more islanders enjoy regular, inclusive exercise that boosts physical health, builds confidence, and brings people together. With the new mobile service, we’re taking another big step toward a more active and inclusive Jersey.”
