The Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation has announced the appointment of Peter Beausire as their new Trustee.

Peter said: “Within my role of Trustee, my focus will be setting up the Brand New Office, which is going to give the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation (PPBF) a great presence in town and also to work closely with the PPBF Ambassadors to help utilise their roles.”

Peter is the Joint Managing Director of the local family business, Le Mont Saint Garage. He is also known for being a Guernsey Basketball player and has worked with the PPBF for a number of years supporting the charity through his business, before becoming a PPBF Ambassador and now Trustee. Peter’s Goddaughter, Hermione, was born premature and her family were supported by the PPBF, so the charity is close to his heart.

He continued: “Having worked with the PPBF for a few years and now to have been asked to become a Trustee is a great honour.  I am really looking forward to working closer with the team in the decision making for PPBF.  We are in a great place but there is always work to do to support the Children and Families of Guernsey of ill children when it is needed.

“I hope to bring to the table my enthusiasm and willing to work to help the charity, both using my network of contacts and selling skills to bring more interest and support to PPBF. I also am keen to throw myself out there for sporting challenges to help continue to build the profile of PPBF and do the fundraising.”

The PPBF is also delighted to announce that Alexis Morgan (pictured with Peter Beausire) has agreed to become a PPBF Ambassador. Alexis is the Technical Lead (Exchange of Information on Request) at the States of Guernsey.

Alexis said: “I am truly honoured to be asked to join the team of PPBF Ambassadors. Our family were beneficiaries of the Foundation’s work after our daughter was born 16 weeks early in 2019 and we used their compassionate housing for the 100 days we were in Southampton.”

Aggie’s Burrow and Isaac’s Pad are two PPBF flats only a stone’s throw from Southampton Hospital. The PPBF provide this vital compassionate housing to families of premature babies, or critically poorly children, in the community going through the most difficult times.

“I cannot over state what a huge, positive difference being provided Aggie’s Burrow made to our neonatal journey. Both in meaning I was able to be by my daughter’s side in hospital as much as possible and providing a cosy home-away-from-home, and a sense of normality, at a very abnormal time for our then five-year-old son, when he came over to visit me and his baby sister” reflected Alexis.

On her Ambassador role Alexis added: “I am delighted to join the team and am looking forward to continuing to raise awareness of the issues facing premature babies and their families, who spend time on the neonatal unit. I am especially looking forward to helping continue the Foundation’s work to ensure those wonderful sanctuaries, PPBF compassionate housing, remain available for the families that will follow us.”

Jo Priaulx, Founder and Chief Executive of PPBF said: “We’re hugely excited that both Peter and Alexis are joining the PPBF family to bring in new, enthusiastic and fresh ideas.”
